I had the same problem when I first got the laptop and had no difficulty in getting into BIOS to reset the CMOS. The tracings on the mainboard can definately short/ground or have periodic shorts causing the cmos memory to become corrupt. 3) Something electromagnetic is effecting the CMOS memory. The computer attempts to load bios from a backup which says it is ok afterwards but the computer still gives me a Check Sum error right after the LOGO Screen. I do know that everything was working fine 6 hours ago when I last had it on. I have had this system since October and this morning I went to start up my computer and got a BIOS Checksum Error.
